This is my fourth attempt at the famous Penang curry mee in Restoran OKAY and I finally got to try it. I nearly gave up after three unsuccessful visits (they were either not open or finished) but sometimes things just happen unplanned.
The stall opens at 7.30am and sells out within 2 hours on a normal day. Even if it’s a slow day the noodle runs out by 10am. Business is so good that the boss jokingly pleaded to me not to promote his noodles anymore. Well, they certainly got their hands full just serving their regular customers.
Anyway, the main reason I am here is just to satisfy my personal curiosity – and I would probably won’t return again given the circumstances.
Despite being authentically delicious, the curry mee is simply not THAT good for me to wake up early, drive all the way to SS2, then wait 45 minutes for my noodle to arrive.
Besides, a bowl of curry mee here costs RM7 and that’s quite a premium price. The same quality of curry mee can be found in Sun Sea OUG, Lim Mee Yoke, Chew Jetty Penang Chiak and Penang Corner. Even more so, waiting time is minimal and less headaches too.
If you are a hardcore Penang curry mee lover, have time to spare and don’t mind the price, then by all means come here. Otherwise, you might as well oblige the owner’s request not to increase their work load. I say that in jest, of course.
